Federal Budget Breakfast 2022

Newton & Henry hosted the 2022 Federal Budget Breakfast at Josef Chromy on Wednesday 30th March. The Newton & Henry Federal Budget Breakfast continues to provide Northern Tasmanian business leaders with the opportunity to gain deeper insight into the Federal Budget’s implications, with a particular focus on what it means to Tasmania.

Over 100 attendees representing a wide range of Northern Tasmanian industries and businesses attended this year's sold out event. Newton & Henry Partners, along with guest speakers, provided analysis of the budget initiatives that will shape Tasmania’s future with particular focus on cost of living initiatives including the fuel excise reduction along with policies aimed at assisting small business including the digital and skills tax boost.

Presenters included Warren Hogan - Chief Economic Advisor at Judo Bank, Bridget Archer - MP Federal Member for Bass, Michael Hine, Partner at Newton & Henry and Beth Makaryn - Manager at Newton & Henry.

Newton & Henry would like to thank all those who attended this year's breakfast and look forward to helping our clients should they have any questions.

Federal Budget Reports Download

In handing down the 2023 Federal Budget, the Government needed to walk a tightrope between an economy running at near full capacity, and the political realities of increasing cost of living and inflation and the looming election.

The enclosed reports indicate the major budget outcomes.

The first report covers the main fiscal changes in taxation and superannuation.  The more detailed report elaborates on these matters, as well as providing a deeper commentary on the economic and policy outcomes.

We commend them both.

Given the forthcoming election cycle, we will share similar insights as to the Opposition’s alternative budget parameters once they are released later in the week.
